Homeschool programs have been allowed in some states in the United States.
But the ban on online degree programs has been lifted in the U.S. The National Association of Colleges and Employers said the move will allow more people to get the education they need to thrive in the workforce.
It is one of several steps the Trump administration is taking to expand access to higher education.
The new policy also allows students to earn college credit by enrolling in online programs, and some state regulators have said they will be allowed to offer them in some areas.
The move by the Trump White House also comes a week after the administration announced a $1.4 billion boost to the National Institutes of Health’s research and development program, the White House said.
The money will help the NIH’s Center for Biological Diversity secure grants and help it expand its research efforts.
